Installations & lighting-up

A number of well-known buildings and landmarks light up poppy red every year in tribute to the Scottish Poppy Appeal. In 2016 we had 21 different buildings, structures and even a Royal Yacht! They included:

AECC
Ayr Racecourse
The Balmoral Hotel, Edinburgh
Caird Hall, Dundee
Edinburgh Airport
Edinburgh Castle
EICC
Eilean Donan Castle
Inverness Castle
The Kelpies, Falkirk
Signal Tower Museum, Arbroath
SSE Hydro, Glasgow
St Andrew’s House , Edinburgh
Jenners, Edinburgh
McCaig’s Tower, Oban
Ness Bridge
Royal Yacht Britannia
Science Centre, Glasgow
St Magnus Cathedral, Orkney
Titan Crane, Clydebank
Victoria Quay, Edinburgh

In addition, the Heavy Horse sculpture on the M8 motorway at Baillieston wears a specially made poppy and the grass pyramids further east on the M8 at Bathgate have three giant poppies painted on to the structures.  Watch our short time-lapse below to see the poppy pyramids come together.
